The Bargue studies completed to date should have familiarised you with the fundamentals of figure drawing. Namely, we have practised proportion, placement, position, and gesture. These exercises should have helped us develop an eye and process for progressive accuracy in our drawings. We will continue with this mindset as we move into our full value drawings.

Much of the beginning stages of the process remain the same but there are now a few extra steps before we get into the 'finishing', or 'rendering' stages of our studies. As we follow through the steps we will progress the drawing as a whole at a similar rate. As opposed to finishing each individual part from the beginning, this approach will help progress the drawing through its use of contextual information available. Of course there are a number of ways to finish a drawing but this is a great method for bringing up the drawing as a whole and is particularly useful early on for getting used to the idea of thinking about light and form.

Below you will find the videos for this section split into the beginning stages and rendering stages. Follow through the process as before. Once the rendering stage is reached the process becomes, in general, repeated for each section of the drawing that we are finishing.

Here you will find a folder containing some images from which you can choose to make your study.
